So I often see on Pinterest that some people get like 500 pins to one picture, and I wonder how they do it!! Maybe I'm slightly jealous....just maybe. Well, all of a sudden a pin I attached to one of my boards FOREVER ago (like my very first pin) has all the sudden become VERY popular!! Eeek!! I'm getting 10-15 emails a day showing how many MORE people are pinning it! Eeek (again)!!! I can't believe it...it's pretty cool that other people think what you like is "awesome" as well!! It has been one of those afternoons where I just want to quit....

you know the kind...

when your children have to whine about E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G!! First they are STARVING, but they HATE everything that's offered. Then they MUST irritate each other, followed by SCREAMS, tears and loud squeals. Then they CHOOSE to speak disrespectfully to me.

It's beyond frustrating that I take the time to plan meals....work hard searching, gathering and preparing said meals only to hear, "I DON'T LIKE THAT!! YOU NEVER MAKE ANYTHING I LIKE!!! YOU HATE ME!!" Or the equally frustrating..."I'm not hungry." I am making something new tonight...and I KNOW I will hear plenty of opinions about it!!

I have dust in EVERY corner in my house, dirty toilets, sticky floors, piles of paperwork, messy closets, about 1600 legos all over one child's bedroom, plastic food strewn over B's room, about 1,000 baseball cards in another room.

I need to put together about 45 Valentine's Day cards....

I need to finish up a basket for a silent auction...

at this point I am just whining, but I just feel like whining!! Ha!

Here's for a better day tomorrow!! :)

I cannot believe that you have been on this earth for 10 years!! Tonight we celebrated right at 5:54 that 10 years ago I was giving birth to my first baby....and Aidan, you have blessed me and your daddy (and so many other people in your life). I am so grateful that God chose me to be your momma. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you. God has blessed you and will continue to bless you sweetheart.

No I Don't Listen to Christian Music Radio....

{This is my blog and I am allowed to speak my mind...so speak my mind I must!! ;)}

I had an experience recently where someone was surprised I didn't know a couple of songs we were singing in church. In fact I got that I-can't-believe-you-don't-know-this-song-you-must-listen-to-crap-if-you-don't-listen-to-this-type-of-music look. Ok, yes...I might have been reading into her glare, but all the same....I've gotten this look before from other Christians.

I want to make it perfectly clear that Christian music is awesome and it is incredibly encouraging, providing great lyrics and above all adoration for Christ. But for me, it is just something I do not care for. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the old Hymn's from days gone by. The lyrics from more recent music cannot hold a candle to the old Hymns.

I want to make it perfectly clear what kind of music I do listen to.
Currently on my Pandora list:
*Disney music
*Veggietales
*Old showtunes (ie:Oklahoma, My Fair Lady)
*New showtunes (ie:Hairspray, High School Musical 2)
*Christmas music (multiple channels of this wondrousness!!)
*Ella Fitzgerald
*Jimmy Durante
and finally, I thoroughly enjoy listening to Christian TALK radio.

When I was a young teenage girl, I loved current Christian music....DC Talk, Point of Grace, etc. Listening to that type of music was how I related to Christ. I relied on music to bring me closer to God. Which in and of itself is not bad, but I hadn't figured out how to relate to him through prayer and Bible study. But I came to a point in my life where all that music started to sound the same...so I stopped listening to it.

I do not have to listen to that music to have a wonderful bond with Christ....I read my Bible, attend church and finally I have an incredible prayer life. That is how I speak to God and ask Him to speak to me....through prayer and reading His word.

I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not saying there is anything wrong with listening to Christian music radio...in fact I know that for many it is the best way to worship and it brings them such indescribable joy and closeness to Christ!! How awesome!!

{So....I guess I have spoken my peace about this....I, in fact, started this post days ago, but needed to cool off before finishing it!! Teehee!}

I pray I have not offended anyone!!! Thank you God for the freedom to write openly about you :))))

Just thought I would share some ideas I'm tossing around for doing my little girl's bedroom! Her nursery was pink and brown...her toddler colors were black and white and pink....and now ?? We are still working with black and white cause I LUV her bedspread and other black accents she already has. But I am wanting to jump out there with some AWESOME color...pops of turquoise or maybe entirely blue walls! Whatcha' think??

Ballerina Breslyn

B had her first Ballet recital back in December. I was so proud of her...she practiced so hard, but I could tell she was nervous to get out in front of so many people. She did a great job though!! My only complaint is that I couldn't see her during her performance. The ballet company did a poor job in the set up...not monitoring who was in the front row, organizing seating...very discouraging. Next time I will have to get there 2 hours before the actual recital time if I want to see my baby girl perform!! I was quite angry then....I'm over it now. ;) Here are the pics I did get of her!! Enjoy my beautiful ballerina!!

Winter Mantle

So here is my WiNtEr MaNtLe!!

I went with mainly WHITE and accented with bare twigs and wreaths....

...used some gray material as well!!

Lurve this white plate, and use it OFTEN!! I bought this little frame at a resale shop because it had a beautiful letter "A" in it!! I like that letter for some random reason! :) I reuse it each season with fun festive paper!!

I decided something was missing from my mantlescape....and remembered these CA-UTE little wreaths in my garage...thank you Goodwill!! Trying to keep with the neutral colors, I chose the gray material to hang them from the white open frames.

I "stole" these twigs from my parents back yard...I don't think they minded much!! ;)

And my precious family!!! Ain't they sweet?!

I hope you've enjoyed this little tour of my mantle!! And I hope that all of ya'll that get snow this winter, have fun...I'll be a little jealous when we don't get any this season!!

Prayer Request and Praise....

I ask that my readers pray for the Ely family.

They just lost EVERYTHING they own in a fire.

A little back story...

This family is related to a woman that works with Joey. They have been living with family for the last three years. The two of them and their TWO YEAR OLD little girl just moved into their own place (townhome) recently.

This week their home caught fire and burned and DESTROYED all that they have. INCLUDING their vehicle...it has smoke damage. Unfortunately they did not have renters insurance to help replace all that they lost.

My heart is broken for this family...but especially the little girl...she lost EVERY doll, EVERY blanket, ALL her clothes, her bed and ALL her Christmas presents. EVERYTHING.

I know what it is like to lose precious items to a fire...I know how scary it is to be in a fire...I know what it's like to have someone hurt because of a fire...I know the fear. I ALSO know how wonderful it is to not lose EVERYTHING in a fire...I know how blessed my family was that we didn't lose our lives or our entire house.

Please please take a moment to pray for this family...that the Lord would surround them with His love and peace and strength. Pray the Lord will provide their EVERY need...through family, friends and even perfect strangers!

And the praise...I must brag on my sweet children. Tonight when faced with eating ice cream at Chick Fil-A (because it would support our elementary school) or giving that same money towards something for this hurting family, my precious kids without skipping a beat, said they wanted to donate it to the family. Joey and I choked back tears at the tenderness of their hearts. With their dessert money and a gift card I got from a child at school, we were able to get the little girl some clothes and pjs! We are also gathering for them every "gently used" stuffed animal, book and blanket we have.

Again...please keep this family in your prayers because THEY.NEED.IT.

2012 Single Resolution

Every year I make New Year's Resolutions....and every STINKIN year I fail at accomplishing most of them!! Last year I made 12 goals for 12 months...I probably followed through with half of them....not bad for me.

So....this year I am making ONE goal....I can and WILL achieve it also. It is not out of reach and it is an encouragement from God....

This year I am going to be the best I can be....yep, that does sound super cheesy. Just bear with me, mmkay? I am going to do good in every area of my life. A small list of what I am talking about:

*Answer emails immediately, instead of waiting to think about what I will say...only to forget the email and have the other person get mad or their feelings hurt because I didn't respond in a timely manner.

*Answer texts immediately....for the same reasons as above.

*Answer/return phone calls....I am NOT A PHONE TALKER...most of my family and friends know this and accept me for my weird quirks! Others don't get it and are offended...again, see above.

*Return things right after I've borrowed and used them.

*Less eating out, more focused meal planning.

*Listing all medical debt and begin paying it off.

*We bought the big boys there first big kid Bibles for Christmas and we want to teach them how important this book is...I have a crafty project to get done to push this belief. Exciting!

*....clean the bathrooms more....yikes, I can't believe I just admitted that on here!!

*Read my Bible and pray way more than I do now.

*Send little notes to family and friends.

*In general....ORGANIZE my life and home.

That is just a smattering of ways to be better at my life. God has blessed me so much and I never want to take that for granted. I can do so much more with what He has given me. I pray that I can keep this promise to be the best me I can be (wow, sounds cheesy and selfish! ha!), but I know I will have days where I just want to be a big ole lazy slob...and that's okay too! ;)

Honestly every year I cringe at the thought of my NYR (for constant fear of failure), but this year I am actually looking forward to 2012!!! I can accomplish this goal....bring it on!! :))

Tomorrow night Breslyn is going to be in a Christmas concert with her Gaga (my momma), and I can't wait to see the show!

Monday night is GNO!!! I can't wait....I had to miss last month, so I really want to see all the wonderful ladies in our group! We are having a big meal and exchanging APRONS!! How fun will that be?

I was hoping we (as a family) could go see Arthur Christmas Tuesday night.

Wednesday night Breslyn has her first Ballet performance at our local mall! She is so excited, but I am hoping she will remember all the steps....and NOT get that deer-in-the-headlights look about her!! Ha! I guess we will see.

I don't think we have plans for the rest of the week....whew....this season is already going by so fast, and that makes me so sad. I need days FULL of NOTHING!!

Well, I have obviously failed my November goal....but do you know how hard it is to blog every FLIPPIN' day?! No? It's HARD!! HA! Oh well, I will try and do a few posts in a row!! So....

Here are some more pics of a shoot I did a couple weeks ago. I tell ya...it is a LOT stressful being an amateur photographer. I know people aren't expecting much from a non-pro, but I want them to be pleasantly surprised when they receive their pictures! Will my artistic taste match theirs? Are they as in love with black and white photos as I am? Etc, {self doubt}, etc, {hoping for great results}, etc!!! That aside...here are a few pics! Faithful Friends

Today I am giving thanks for my friends.............

I mentioned previously that my best friend is Joey, but there are two wonderful ladies in my life that help shape and mold me into the person I want to be.

The friend I have had the longest is Julie...we began our friendship about 17 years ago. I didn't think friendships even lasted that long, but I am so grateful they do!! She has taught me patience, AMAZING faith, that it is okay to be yourself, that sometimes you have to ask for help, perseverance, how to be completely honest with a friend and love. I feel so blessed to call her my sister in Christ, and I am so glad we will spend eternity in Heaven together. I love you Juju!!

I have been friends with Ashlee for about 3 years. The picture below couldn't describe us any better!! She came along in my life when I was needing more happiness, silliness and accountability in my life! She has taught me selflessness, that family time is so very important, how to make a house into a home, that "junkin" is FUN, how to make the most of what you have and love!! I am so glad that God brought our families together!! I love you Ashlee, and I am so proud to call you my friend!!

Missed a Day...Dern!!

Well, I missed a post yesterday....man, only 5 days in and I failed. Well, I forgive myself!! Hahaha! We were at the Fort Worth Zoo all day yesterday celebrating Finley's birthday....by the time we got home I couldn't walk my heel hurt so bad. Then after not having eaten breakfast or lunch, I got a KILLER migraine! It was awful...like ice pack on my head, the light from the television piercing my brain nerves {ha}, husband getting the trash can kinda bad. All that to say...THAT is the reason I didn't get a post up!!

Today I would like to give thanks for my husband and kiddos. It's not fair to bunch the two of them together, but I just feel like I need to mention them both! I would not be "me" if it weren't for those 5 people!! I love them to pieces.

Thank you for believing in me...ALWAYS. You push, support, lead, hug, comfort, tease, listen, carry and love me. You are a wonderful husband and BEST FRIEND. No matter how close I am to my girlfriends, you are number one in my life {after Christ}. Thank you for loving me when I feel so unlovable. You are an amazing man and I thank God every day for you.

When I am away from you for an hour or two, I honestly can't wait to get back and see you again! I'm C.R.A.Z.Y!! I have deemed Psalm 51 as my life chapter...

I know....most people have life verses, not me, nope....

I need a WHOLE chapter!! Ha!

If I had to focus on a few verses {technically} it would be vs: 10-13

¹⁰ Create in me a pure heart, O God,
   and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
¹¹ Do not cast me from your presence
   or take your Holy Spirit from me.
¹² Restore to me the joy of your salvation
   and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

You couldn't have written more perfect words to describe my drought from Christ than verse 11. For six years I was missing my God, my Redeemer, my All. I accused Him of leaving me, when in reality I had put up a wall and wouldn't let Him in. But I knew one day I would be restored, one day I would feel that great depth of emotional healing that only Christ could bring. I was under the impression that to "feel" God {in other words, get all tingly} was the best way to acknowledge His unspoken words. What I didn't realize was that was how an immature Christian relies on God. A mature Christian relies on the Bible....God's written words, a prayer life and Christian accountability.

I am so grateful for Christ's love....

I am a sinner, His love sets me free....

Because of his freeing love....

I can worship openly....

Because I can worship openly....

I am able to take part in a Beth Moore Bible Study....

Because of this bible study....

I found my life chapter/verse....

Because I found myself in these verses....

I can weep with gratitude.

I sat last night bawling my eyes out reading the words of Psalm 51 to Joey. I wept with such joy.

I pray the words of this book reach out to others....that they realize...God CAN and WILL forgive you of all your sins...even the deep, dark, dirty ones that you hope no one knows about. He knows, and He is just waiting for a confession of those sins. Once we confess, we are cleansed of all our past. What a wonderful gift!!!! He forgives, cleanses and RESTORES!!

Please Sing Me a Song...

My children all asked me to sing them to sleep tonight.

I quickly sang a few ditty's from my mommy

repertoire to Finn and Owen,

then I moved on to B...who had been waiting patiently

saying, "momma, mommy, mom, momma" from her bedroom.

She laid her head on my lap and I tickled her back, and ran her beautiful locks through my hands.

She happily listened as I sang the old stand by songs.

She smiled and was content to sleep...

after she got a sippy cup of juice.

I then remembered Aidan calling from his room asking me to sing him to sleep 15 minutes earlier.

I went in to sing and he was already asleep.

But I felt the need to wake him up to sing his favorite melodies.

And as I sat there singing our songs, I reflected back on 9 years of singing to this precious baby boy.

Only he's not a baby anymore...

he's huge...he's nine...I can't lift him anymore...

but still this precious big boy wants constant hugs and kisses from me and it is my privilege to give them,

and such a privilege to sing to this sweet child....

I know one day he won't want me to kiss him, hug him or sing "You Are My Sunshine" anymore.

So I must revel in this sweet time together.

My cheeks are covered in tears of gratitude that the Lord would let me be your momma.

Aidan threw up a few times last night,

Breslyn called from her bed at 6:15am this morning that she was going to throw up.

So when I went in to wake Finn and he started crying I assumed he was going to follow suit.

I was very wrong.

I listened to his cry and it was so sad and I really wanted to know why he was so upset...

He started crying even harder and said he, "didn't want to think about

his nightmare anymore."

Of course I pressed to know what happened, and he said it involved Breslyn.

I held him and he sobbed saying, "a man took B."

And that they were "at home, but a different house."

He was genuinely so upset, and it broke my heart.

But I was also so moved by his compassion for his sister....

I held him and loved on him...such sweetness packed in a few salty tears.

12 in 12:September AND October

Sooooo....I have slacked on my "12 in 12" goals lately. Boo to me...but really I'm not too far behind!!

For September my goal was TO SURVIVE!! As a known homebody, being on the go constantly with deadlines and major stress (oh and a very sick family) just about knocked me out!! To recap my September....go HERE!!!

For October my goal is to clean out the kids closets....put away the clothes that will be reused, get out the fall/winter clothes, get rid of the clothes that are too tight, return borrowed clothes and toys, switch B's clothes to her new armoire (project coming soon) and in general organize!! I also MUST finish editing the wedding pics I took a few weekends ago....I took 600 so there are a lot to go through, edit, delete and save!!

I have slacked on my posts lately...I have so much to say (and so many posts that are half written), but hopefully I will have pics and writs to read!! Haha!!

Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick, Sick

I did not randomly put that many "sicks" up there...

Each "sick" represents a sick person in my home over the last 9 days.

We have 6 people in our family...notice there are 8 "sicks"!!

Two of my kiddos have had this "sick"ness 2x!!

Soooooo, needless to say....it has been a VERY rough 9 days for this momma.

And I am flat out tired of all this "sick"ness!!

I love my children and I love my hubby, but all of us being sick at the same time...SUCKS!!

That's right...S.U.C.K.S!!

Right now we are on a doctor ordered mission to collect Owen's poop and return it to the doctor next week. They will send it to the lab and see if he has a parasite. Yay, a parasite!! Seriously? But of course since Obugs doctor appointment, he hasn't pooped. Grr. But WHAT.ever!!!

I'm tired, but as of tonight everyone seems to be on the mend (except for B...still a few poop accidents). I am praying for no throw up or poop tomorrow...for anyone!!!

Stressed {TO THE MAX} September.....

I've had a...well....exhausting September. A great, exciting, stressful September. Let me break it down for ya!! Ha!

Sept 2nd-5th: we had special visitors that stayed with us all weekend!! And we were happy and honored to be able to help them out!! (love you, Ash).

Sept 9th-10th: prep for our craft show and the actual Rhome Pioneer Days...we had to load, unload, load and unload a COMPLETELY FULL top to bottom Ford Expedition which carried all our wares!!

Sept 16th-17th: I attended and served at our ladies retreat. It was a blast (even though it involved LOTS of personal stress!! ha!)

Sept 24th-25th: I will be photographing my BIL and future SIL's wedding. I am so honored to be a part of their wedding and I pray I do a great job. I want them to look back in 20 years and still be happy with the pictures I took!

(and then....Oct 1st I will be assisting my MIL as she takes pics for her high school reunion)

And in between all these weekends I am living...and dealing with all the other things that come along with life!!! Ha! But for now...with all the stress September brings, I know how very blessed I am and how honored I feel being able to be a part of all of the above!!

 {I just wish Oct 2nd would hurry up and get here!!  Hahahaha!!}

How Does She Do It?

It has been a ~~hard~~ day today. Not awful, just....trying.

I had a wonderful, but long and exhausting day at work.

I enjoy my job...even if it is teaching 16 two year olds!! I have a great co-teacher and sweet co-workers.

The kids are adorable and only one tries my ever last nerve. Ha!

I just have nothing left come 3pm...

of course that is when I am needed the most.

I have 4 kids and a husband AND a house to take care of.

My patience is just gone, along with my energy.

So someone gets neglected, dishes pile up, mommy is screaming, teeth don't get brushed, pizza gets ordered and usually everyone cries at some point.

I can't wait to see the new movie "How Does She Do It?" staring Sarah Jessica Parker.

The movie is about a working woman, taking care of her kids, making time for her husband and not losing her mind in the process. Wow! Is that possible?

I have great days, where I reign supreme {ha!} and get it ALL done, with a smile on my face and a song in my heart! And oh, those days, I love them. I crave them...to be my all, for Christ, for my kids, for my husband and for myself.

I currently feel pulled in so many directions...yet each direction is so incredibly exciting that I can't imagine not being a part of any of it!! God is using me and I cannot put into words how wonderful I feel following His lead without question, without worry and honestly without thinking. He is all knowing, so I don't need to!!

I have a supportive husband who I am so blessed to love and lean on. He allows and encourages me to pursue goals and ventures to the best of my ability...all the while taking over the household duties!!

I have great friends and family and love to spend time with them...unfortunately, sometimes that just isn't going to happen. I may miss a birthday party here and there, or I may not be able to help with a certain family function even after I have been asked to. I may not be able to physically support a friend and a cause dear to my heart, but I can certainly pray my heart out for said cause. I can only give as much as I have.

I am so blessed and loved through the thick and thin, the crying and laughing and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Exciting New Adventure....Teaching 2 year olds!!

Yes...you read that right...I am now teaching a 2 year old preschool class on Tuesday and Thursdays!!!

And I thought I would share a few pictures of the classroom. I teach with a wonderful woman...Leslie! She was Finley's teacher when he was in the 3 year old class! She is so patient and so caring. I am privileged to be walking through this new journey with her!! :)

As if you couldn't tell we went with a jungle theme!! It was somewhat difficult with the "under the sea" theme the church already has on the other side of the room! ha! But I think we did a fine job!!

So when I began shopping for Breslyn a backpack and lunchbox I wanted them to be unique and SUPER CUTE!! So below is what I started with....a ho-hum $7.00 and $4.00 Old Navy matching set. Cute, but average. So I sewed a little flower together, then sewed it to the inside of the front of both and then added in a super cute monogrammed button right in the middle. Very precious and NO ONE will have one exactly like it..bonus!! Total cost: backpack/lunchbox $11.00; $.99 button from Hob Lob...

so for $11.99 I think it was well worth my time and effort!! Hope she likes it as much as I do!! Ha! :)

And unfortunately I have nothing left to give my family. That makes me sad and weighs heavy on my heart. But I am hoping once I am in the swing of things it won't be quite so hard.

I am praying that tomorrow will bring a sense of renewal, a fresh perspective and happy children.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday and the hubs and I are going on a much NEEDED date. :)

Trash, Hooks and Towels

Well, that title sounds like this will be a random post, but actually it all connects!!

I have been wanting to put up new hooks in the kids bathrooms to hold their BEVO towels (if you are not a University of Texas fan you might want to just move on!!). My mom and dad are UT alumni and they have bought each of my kiddos their own BEVO towel personalized with their names!

I bought the hooks weeks ago from the AMAZING Hobby Lobby. They are adorable and represent each of my kids perfectly!! Then I was on the hunt for the perfect piece of wood to nail them to!!

Anywho...while garage sale shopping with my bff Ashlee, about 2 weeks ago, I found this piece of wood, which I believe used to be a panel on a cabinet door. It was just laying there in a pile of trash!! Score!! It was beautiful...okay it was dirty and rough, but I could see the potential!!

So tonight the hubs and I decided to get this show on the road!! Here is the process in pics!!

In Two Weeks...

my little man will be starting KINDERGARTEN!!

Oh Finley, how you make me smile, and try my patience, and make me think, and make me remember, and irritate me, and hug me, and show me the faith of a child. I love you so very much. A few months ago I was SO ready for you to hurry up and start school already...but now with the days rapidly approaching I just tear up at the thought of you leaving me every day. It will be a wonderful experience for you and you are gonna ROCK Kinder....but....this momma is so afraid to let you go. I have no fear that you can handle yourself...physically and mentally. I hope you will make lots of new friends and impress the teacher daily.

But still....

this momma is crying. I'm so proud of the little Paleontologist, scientist, actor, singer, dancer and sweet boy you have become. You are going to make a difference in this world.

Color Blind

these two crazies:

FAILED the test they took to check for color blindness!! Finley failed miserably, but Aidan did pretty bad too!! Ha! However, when asked to pick out a color of someone's shirt or pick out the color of a marker they could definitely do it...except for a few colors. But after reading over the results again, it was determined that they have "Red/Green Deficiancy".

So to my boys...next time I tell you your clothes don't match and to change....don't spout off that your shirt and your shorts are both blue. They might be, but they are always two different shades and you look quite silly!! Let's remember this and ALWAYS trust that momma knows best!! ;)

I love Fall and Winter SO VERY MUCH....and pretty much ~~hate~~ despise summer...especially TEXAS summer. Ugh. We are on day 60 of 120degree weather...okay not really, but it feels like it. When I am inside my house sweating because I've turned the a/c up because the electric company said to because we might start have rolling brown outs if we don't start conserving energy....it is ridiculous!!

Calling All Prayer Warriors

I am pleading that all my readers (whether you read this blog faithfully or not) to please join me in prayer for a very special little girl. Her name is Faith Hannah G. and she is has been diagnosed with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease.

She is an incredible little girl, the daughter to my long time best friend...Julie. Faith is so beautiful, and amazingly smart, talented in so many areas. Julie and her husband Kyle were not able to have their own child..they were blessed in the adoption of Faith!! She is now a growing 6 year old!

She has recently started having stomach pain and other issues with bladder control. Julie took Faith to the doctor last week, who scheduled an ultrasound and blood work. The doctor called with the terrible news. She has cysts all over her kidneys, some have ruptured (which are causing the pain). They cannot be removed, she will need dialysis, and eventually a kidney transplant.

Julie is devastated. I am so saddened....I have such a heavy heart for this sweet family. They have already been through so much, and now this. Although this is all part of God's plan and timing, the unfairness of the situation still stings.

I ask for you to pray that God will be with Faith's doctors, her parents and grandparents. Pray for abounding PEACE, comfort and STRENGTH.

"Didn't Mean To Dent Your Do, Little Lady"...

My (soon to be) SIL, Melony will be getting married to my BIL at the end of September! Along with being the wedding photographer, I am also fixing the bride's hair. I will be ~~C.R.A.Z.Y~~ busy that day!!

Here are pictures of her do...I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. :) I hope it turns out even better on the special day. And I hope she likes loves it even more!!

I still have to perfect my technique...ya know...so the bobby pins aren't screaming, "look at ME!!" But all the same not too shabby for my first attempt! Tomorrow my MIL, Melony and myself will be taking her bridal portraits!! I know they are going to turn out GREAT!

Back to the Future

Nope I am not talking about the movie. :)

Looking back 10 years ago, 3 years ago, 9 months ago I would never have considered myself a missionary. I said I would never, could never be a missionary. Whether I was scared of leaving my extended family, or afraid of failure, embarrassed of my relationship with Christ...all those reasons and more are why I would never be able to be a missionary.

However over the last 6 to 9 months I have become so close to Christ that my heart is swollen with love for Him. As uncomfortable as that sounds it is quite the opposite!! A few months ago I realized I was holding in some great disappointment and anger from my past...but what I didn't know until recently was that God cannot forgive us until we have forgiven others.

Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)

¹⁴ For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ¹⁵ But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

So I was able to forgive the past and I felt such a freedom, a peace and a movement in my heart that I never expected!! For years I had felt apart from God...from May 2005 till early this year I felt God had left my side. I cried out for Him on so many occasions. I screamed, pleaded and begged for His return. He didn't...He couldn't....because He was ALREADY there!! I just had a wall built up that kept me from seeing and feeling Him.

I began to talk to God with a renewed sense of healing and excitement...and with a body full of FAITH and without a doubt that Christ would answer me, hold me, heal me, reach me and love me.

James 1:6-8 (NIV)

⁶ But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ⁷ That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. ⁸ Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

But back to the future (teehee)....I am a missionary. Right now I am not in Haiti or New Orleans teaching the Gospel. I am not in downtown Fort Worth standing on a bench, beating my hand on my Bible and yelling in peoples faces. But I am a missionary to those people I come in contact with every day...my children, my friends, my neighbors. I feel so blessed to be able to encourage those people daily.

If we desire to be followers of Jesus today, we must acknowledge that he is sending us out as well. He is saying the same things to us: we are to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God.

I haven't been in Kirkland's in forever, but it was worth it!!

I returned home to a quiet, clean house and I was so very grateful.

Finn: silence...

Finn: silence with rolled eyes.

Me: Finley, you need to say yes ma'am rigHT NOWWW!!

Finn: Why?

Me: Because you need to show respect. I am your elder and your mommy, so you will show me respect.

Finn: {under mumbled breath} I only respect daddy.

Me:......stunned silence........then anger.......then sadness.

Me: Finley, God tells us to honor our MOMS and dads. It is one of the Ten Commandments...so, it's kind of a BIGGIE!!!!

Finn:.......nothing.

Me: God will teach you to respect me Finley...one way or another {can you hear the ominous...dun, dun, dun?}.

And that's how it ended.

He doesn't get it, but hopefully, with time, he will. I have never questioned Aidan's respect towards me...his nature is to be loving, pleasing and honoring. But then came Finley...a barrel of crazy, unrestrained monkeys!! I dunno!!

Happy Father's Day 2011

I am so blessed to be able to give thanks for 4 Fathers in my life!! I mean who can say that? Not many people!! So here goes.

Joey: I couldn't ask for a better husband, but you are an incredible father as well. Our kids have truly been given a gift to have you as a dad. You treat Breslyn with a delicate hand and show our boys how to love others (and that it's okay to wear pink!!). Thank you for providing a great home and life for us. I love you baby.

My dad (Grandpa): All you have to do is look at this picture to know your true heart. You are a man of few words, but you have such a heart for family. You are giving and thoughtful, hardworking and smart. Thank you for all the years of love you gave me AND for all you do for Aidan, Finley, Breslyn and Owen. They love you very much.

My FIL (Papaw): What a wonderful man! You are a hardworker, dedicated to family, sports, and your grandkids!! They love spending time with you and I believe you feel the same way about them. You know full well how big a part you play in their lives...when we are in the car ALL we ever hear about are Corvettes and 'Papaw trucks'!

And finally but most importantly is my HEAVENLY father. How incredibly blessed I am to be a child of God. The always constant, always forgiving, all-knowing, sinless Father. I am a proud Jesus Girl, and know that he wants what is best for me!

I am a little behind (okay 14 days late) on posting my goal for June!! Oh well...I have been thinking about it, but haven't really committed to anything yet. It is kinda hard deciding when we are going to be gone half the month. We are leaving soon for vacation...AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I have however made summer goals for all of us!! I hope my hubby and kids don't mind...teehee!!

*Joey....I would like for him to complete some projects around the house...like fixing door knobs, putting up locks, etc.
*Me....I am going to read through my camera manual...I will be photographing my BIL's wedding this September and it is impearative that I know all the ins and outs of my wonderful new camera!!
*Aidan....I would like for him to lose 5-10lbs...No, I am not a terrible mommy (I am not even discussing this with him.). We are just gonna make some changes around here to help this occur.
*Finley....I want him to learn 20 sight words.
*Breslyn....I want her to be POTTY TRAINED! In fact she has to be PT by mid-august!! Has to!!
*Owen....I want him off baby food by the end of the summer. He is getting better about trying new foods, but he is so stinkin' picky!!

So, those are our family summer goals!! I still don't know what exactly I will focus on for the rest of the month...maybe just making sure our vacation is as STRESS FREE as I can for my whole family!!

Well I must drag myself off to the laundry.....then off to make beds....then off to make dinner....then off to baseball for Aidan....then off to shop with Grandma. :)

Oh My Goodness...

I am so very blessed to be this little girls momma!!
I really wasn't sure I even wanted a daughter after having two little stinky boys...but I cannot imagine what my life would be like without her in it!!

Tonight she and I sat and watched Tinkerbell together.
It was SO MUCH FUN!!
I mean it, we had a blast.
She would ask questions, I would answer.
She would steal a cheeto, I would steal a kiss.
She would giggle, I would chuckle.

She is so expressive...

a shopper
wants to be called, "princess" (mostly by daddy)

I enjoy our time together so much. I feel very privileged to raise a daughter...I know it will be hard to raise a girl in this world, but I am sure that with God's guidance and Joey's help we will make it!!

Update On Baby Ryan

I wrote in my previous post about Ryan Hamil, a missing boy in OK. Today they found his body. My heart is so very heavy for this family. To lose 2 boys, I cannot fathom what they are going through.

Please continue to pray for this family...that they would receive peace abundantly.

Thank you Lord for allowing little Ryan to be found. Although this is not the outcome that we would have wanted, we know that he is now resting in your arms....at HOME. What a sweet picture...seeing you holding his hands walking the streets of Heaven. Lord please bless the family and others...let them see you in this time of tragedy. Amen.

Not A Wordless Wednesday...

...in fact I am begging you...please use words to pray for a family in Oklahoma. Please pray for the Hamil family in Piedmont. A few quick details...the mom (Catherine who is pregnant) was holding her 3 babies (a 5yo, 3yo and 15mo) in a bathtub when their house was hit by the tornado. Her 3 yo was ripped from her arms, her 15mo died and her little girl is in critical condition (as is the mom). They have not found the 3yo Ryan.

I am pleading with you to pray for this hurting family. My heart is just breaking for them. When I put my boys to bed tonight while singing Amazing Grace to them, I just broke down crying. When the boys asked why, I told them...and "we" prayed together. It was so moving to know they were listening to the words I was speaking straight to God. Amazing Grace indeed.

I just cannot imagine how much the mom is hurting right now...to have your child ripped from your arms and taken away by a tornado.....

Lord, I know that you will be glorified whether little Ryan makes it home alive and unhurt or if you have already taken him to Heaven to be with you. You can and will comfort this family even in their darkest hour. I ask that you wrap your arms of peace around them ,and help guide those searching for him. I am praying for a miracle Lord, that Ryan makes it home to his parents....if it is your will. Amen.

So again, I am asking that you pray without ceasing. Pray fervently and with a steadfastness.

Good Day...Not So Much

The stupid stomach bug is making it's way through our home...jealous?
It hit Owen...two days later Finn...two days later Breslyn. Who's next?
I am queasy (and I think Aidan is too...he's home 'sick' from school today).

The boys are fighting and I just had to "discipline" Aidan...and I got hurt in the process.
Their fighting woke Owen up from his nap EARLY...
My house is a freakin mess (I just got back from a scrap weekend..so one husband and 4 kids trampling about does not make for a clean house!!!).

I am struggling with rearranging the kids rooms for a more peaceful household...
I am struggling with whether I should watch a kid over the summer....
I am struggling about making a decision on my job in the fall.

It's rainy, hot, muggy and I am not happy.

Ughhhhhh.

He is Thirsty...

So this little rugrat won't leave my cabinets A.L.O.N.E!! Grr! But for the most part he can't get into too much trouble!! I mean there are only a few breakable bowls, and glass lids on and the occasional candle holder...but he already got a hold of that and shattered it (he was channeling his older brother). So we are pretty good now. Right? Well, we'll see.

So he found a BIG OLE jug and decided that it was a VERY LARGE sippy cup!! Hahaha!! Of course as soon as I grabbed my camera he stopped "drinking" from it!

Praise the Lord justice has come.

Although our "leader" likes to take credit for this moment, I think he is the last person who needs to step forward and receive praises! Let us give the praise to God, and our troops...brave men and women who have given their time and lives for THIS.VERY.DAY!!

Look at me...all writing 3 new posts in one night!! Whoop whoop!! Moving on! Ha!

The month of May my goal is to be a better steward of our money. We are spending in areas that we don't need to....and it is frustrating to realize it after the fact.

Will we get rid of our extended cable? Probably not.
Will we get rid of internet? Never!!
Eat out less? Absolutely.
Extreme coupon? I wish!
Start tithing again? I pray the answer is yes.

Joey and I are a paycheck to paycheck family, and that is very discouraging.
But before we can ask the Lord to bless us with a better paying job, or just more money in general, we have to be willing to make the right choices with what He has already given us.

This will be difficult, but I think we are both ready. Lord help us make the right decisions and be better stewards of all that you've given us!! We are so blessed and give you great thanks!!

Sadness in a can:

This last can represents so much....
a fourth baby that is no longer acting like a baby..trying to walk and talk (how dare he!)
this season of life that is quickly ending

This was the last can of formula for little Owen (back at the end of March) and I knew I needed to capture it on camera before it hit the recycling bin. I remember after Finley and Breslyn that I knew I didn't want to hear from ANYONE that said child was going to be my last. I just didn't feel like I could handle it emotionally. And luckily no one really pushed that topic...and I never really struggled with it...I am guessing that God spared me those emotions cause He knew I was going to be blessed with a 4th, Final Encore child.
But now...now that "it" is over, and I must move past this time of babydom, I am sad. I love babies, their sweet smell, soft skin, toothless smiles, the complete reliance on mommy.
I am so honored to have birthed 4 precious kids and I am so grateful for each phase that we go through...and soon I won't feel sad, and I will just look forward to the following stages of their lives!!

I love you sweet children, thank you for making me a mommy FOUR TIMES!!

Easter 2011

Here are our Easter pictures...yes, they are a week late, but better late than never! Ha!
We started off Sunday at church (which we have decided to join-BTW!!!)

After church they had an Easter egg hunt...and the kids were split into older and younger groups. B was all by herself and she was NOT diggin it! She got a whole 5 eggs and I was the one that "found" them!
The boys were way more productive!! Haha! They had a blast and couldn't wait to get to Grandma's house for more eggs...little piglets!!

We made our way over to Grandma's house and had a DELISH lunch with my mom and dad. Ham, mashed taters, beans, salad...yummo!! After lunch we headed out to h.u.n.t!!

(apparently Joey thought Owen needed to be shirtless...which of course makes for great pictures!!)

Planning B's Birthday!!

It will soon be this little girls 3rd birthday!!! Yay!! I already have the theme of zebra...originally it was zebra "print" not zebra the animal...but the longer I have thought about the party I think we might actually make it a zoo "ZEBRA" party.

Holy cow...just for funzies I looked up how much it would cost to have an official party at the Fort Worth Zoo and it is outrageous!! I mean we are talking $500 for up to 30 people!! What? Sorry that is just way too much for this frugal momma!! So....

I have not made up my mind what to do yet....small intimate party at the zoo or party at home...hmmm. I could do so much at home with zebra print...and go ALL OUT!! I could make it easier on myself and do it away from home. I must make up my mind S.O.O.N!! What do ya think?? :)
