Owen's Dr. Seuss Birthday Party!!

Last Saturday April 9th was Owen's first birthday party {and my 33rd Birthday...oh, I am so old!!} and we celebrated at home with a Dr. Seuss themed party!!

Oh me oh my
time has flown by....

I cannot believe this sweet boy is 1!!!

I put a lot of work into this party...probably more than any other party I have ever given my kiddos...but I promised myself last month to make a better effort at taking care of my family...that includes making birthdays even more special!!

Decorations galore
look, ceiling to floor...

I just threw these frames together at the last minute...
4 Dollar Tree frames
4 chipboard letters from Hob Lob
yellow cardstock
and some spray paint...total for the project...$6!!

Of course we had to have Green Eggs...and ham (sandwiches..no pics of...oops!!)

Party favors: buckets from Target's $1 section...I took out the original ribbon and replaced it with more of a Dr. Seuss themed ribbon!! Filled them with cotton candy and dum dum suckers!!

Dr. Seuss's Birthday book...everyone wrote a special note in it for Owen...so sweet!! The poem about his birth at the top of this post is on the inside cover of the book. Totally stole that idea from THIS wonderful blog.

My wonderful friend Julie made the cupcakes and smash cake...

His little cake with cotton candy on it...made to look like Thing 1's hair!! Too cute!!

Aunt Melony...

with Memaw...LOVE their faces in this picture!!

Grandma....

Aunt Juju....

Uncle Zach....

Sweet Faith (isn't she gorgeous??!!)...

Let's eat cake!
Not a bite I will take...

This little man is not eating table foods, and his smash cake was no exception...he cried through the singing and while I tried to get him to partake of the yummmmmy icing! It made me sad.

B eating a cupcake!

Presents please..
Oh, dad you are such a tease!!

Uncle Jason...

Pawpaw....

Ashlee...special bond here!!

Mommy, Owen and Daddy....
{his shirt says Thing 4...since you never get a very good look at it!!}

Gaga {she came straight from the theatre...performing in The Phantom)...

It was worth all the effort and time to make this sweet boys first birthday very special!!

We love you Owen Brady Tremaine...you are our special little man and we are so blessed to have you in our lives!!

Green Frame Envy?

So although I have done a few crafts around the house, I haven't posted about them yet...so more to come later!! ha!

First...I apologize for the bad angles for the final product...I couldn't get a perfect picture because the frame is in a small walkway. I could not get directly in front of it and get a whole pic of it, but you get to see it in pieces!!

Here is the beauty....I pulled her out of my dads garage and nearly fell over I was so excited!! Haha!! I giggled with delight while I did the happy dance!! It is HUGE and I am LOVING it!! I knew exactly where it needed to go, but was even more thrilled with all the detail!!

{BTW..my hubby loved that I took the "before" pictures in front of our ginormous American flag!!}

Look at those beautiful details...and once painted, it only enhanced them even more!!! Ain't she grand?!!

I dusted it, wiped it with a wet rag and then spray painted it...one of the easiest projects EVER!!

And here she is in all her glory....I hung these four pics up a few months ago and I knew it needed something more. I decided a large frame to "frame" them would be perfect...and PERFECT SHE IS!!!

I really am so very happy with how this turned out!! Hope you like it as well!! :)

Inspiring Quote

"Walk with the dreamers,
the believers, the courageous,
the cheerful, the planners,
the doers, the successful people
with their heads in the clouds
and their feet on the ground.
Let their spirit ignite a fire within you
to leave this world better than when you found it..."

Happy 1st Birthday Owen

Happy 1st Birthday
Owen Brady Tremaine

You are such a sweet baby....always loving on me and your daddy. You love to rip Finley's glasses off, pull Breslyn's hair and get into Aidan's stuff...BUT you are still a wonderful baby....maybe just not such a sweet brother!! ha!

The faces you make...crack me up!!! You are constantly making faces...your favorite is putting your lips together to form an "o", like something very important has just popped in your head!!

You are into EVERYTHING!!! I cannot keep you out of our kitchen cabinets, you would play in toilet water if I let ya!! You want down, you do your best to roll off the changing table and you haven been wanting to walk forever!!!

I will never ever forget your birth....mostly because of the pain I went through!! ha! You were a great baby from the start....

{and a little sneak peak into Owen's "Dr. Seuss" themed birthday party!!!}

Daddy and I love you so very much Obug....thank you for bringing sweetness and love into our lives...even when we didn't know we needed it!!!

Semi-Wordless Wednesday...flashback.

I wish I could find the picture of Aidan between two dumpsters from about 8 years ago...we were living in Austin and my parents were down for a visit. During a walk around our apartment complex we took a picture of Aidan between two LARGE dumpsters!!
It was SOOOO cute, and quite funny. The other day day I saw B standing between our trash cans and just had to take a few pictures!!

Love ya B, you crazy crazy girl!!

12 in 12: April

So it is already April 4th and I haven't posted my goal for this month. March went pretty well I think. I wanted to focus more on my family, but failed in a few areas. 1)Aidan wore awful clothes for Spring pictures, 2)Finn wore hideous clothes for class picture day {this happened the same week} and 3)I have not been the most attentive mom and wife the last week, because I was focused on a craft fair that occurred yesterday. But in general I know I did more for my family {including daily prayers on their behalf} than I have in a long time. So...YAY for me!! HA!

Speaking of the spring craft fair I was in with my wonderful friend Ashlee.....that is where I got my current goal idea from {yep, gonna end that sentence with a preposition! Ha!}. The show was a bomb...not a complete one, but let's put it this way....we made a $15.00 profit!!! I know...what a waste. However, I am choosing to look at it in most positive way I can....at least for our next show we won't have to make a thing...we had so much inventory left over.

But after waiting forever for anyone to stop by our booth I began to get a little {okay, a lot} catty about people that were around us. I made some observations about a few people being stuck in a time warp, pointed out people sporting mullets {business in the front, party in the back}, laughed at a few people trying to sell cats made out of material from the 1980's, and was just overall in a nasty mood. I know that part of it was jealousy that other people were selling their wares and we weren't {especially since our things were and ARE so much cuter!!}. But I was just flat out giving in to sin...I was exhausted and irritated and basically just took it out on those poor innocent people.

I have caught myself talking in a derogatory manner about others in front of my kiddos, and that is not the image I want my children to remember and emulate. So can you guess my goal for this month?

I am going to do my best not to gossip, put down or talk bad about others. This is something I struggled with earlier in my life, and was finally able to get a grip on. So now I will try and overcome this nasty habit for good!! Whoohoo!!

Proverbs 20:19 A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.
